Angela Gorman

Clinical Intern

Angela Gorman is a student at Antioch University where she is working towards her Masters in Dance Movement Therapy with a focus in Family and Couple Therapy. She comes to RSS as an intern working towards her completing her clinical hours.

Angela has over ten years of experience in various educational and non-therapeutic counseling settings including dance education, experiential outdoor education through Outward Bound, and the traditional classroom setting here in Asheville. She worked for the FINS (Families In Need Of Services) Program through Outward Bound which was funded by the Department of Juvenile Justice in Florida. This program served teens and their families who were struggling as a result of trauma, sociocultural location, socioeconomic status, learning differences, and education barriers. It focused on developing behavior management and communication skills using Choice Theory, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Informed Care, and Stages of Change.

Angela is passionate about the work being done at RSS especially through the embedded therapy approach. She believes in bringing therapeutic practices into the context an individual exists in and taking the entire system around them into consideration.

Angela is an embedded therapist intern working at Henderson County Rescue Squad.
