Keith Cox
Ph.D., Clinician
Keith started working with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in 2009. Since then, he has worked with patients from a broad range of backgrounds, combat veterans, first responders, crime victims, torture survivors, sexual assault survivors, and natural disaster victims. He is committed to using the best available treatments to help people recover and move forward from the worst the world has to offer.
Keith earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from Northwestern University in 2013. Beyond PTSD, he works with adults with mood disorders, anxiety, and chronic pain. He also sees couples who are having relationship distress and dysfunction. He uses a broad range of approaches including behavioral therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, values-based approaches, and emotion-focused therapy. (Here’s the alphabet soup for the treatments he uses: CBT, DBT, ACT, and EFT).
Keith is a professor at UNC Asheville. He is an active researcher who publishes and presents on PTSD treatment. Previously, he was a research scientist in the VA and a clinician in a VA PTSD specialty clinic. He has been a part of Department of Defense and VA funded clinical trials for PTSD. He was trained at the National Crime Victims Center in Charleston, SC.
