Marie Graven, LCMHCS, LCAS, CCS

Embedded Clinician

Marie received her masters degree from Western Carolina University in Community Counseling in 2008 and BA from Warren Wilson College in Outdoor Leadership and Psychology. She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Supervisor, Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist, and a Certified Clinical Supervisor for Addictions. She utilizes a person-centered, wholistic, recovery focused approach using her advanced training in Motivational Interviewing to support clients.

 

Marie has worked in the mental health field for 15 years, working at a college counseling center, an outpatient mental Health Clinic, and a long term residential treatment program at the Asheville VA Medical Center. She currently is an Adjunct Professor in a Graduate Counseling program.

 

Marie has called the Swannanoa valley home for nearly 25 years and enjoys spending time in outside (biking, boating, camping, and hiking), raising chickens and children, and trying not to kill everything in the garden. She has worked as an Outdoor Educator for over a decade and believes in the healing power of being in nature as a part of her focus on Recovery in Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders.
