Katie Van Horn

Katie is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate and a Nationally Certified Counselor. She earned her Bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Criminology from North Carolina State University (2021), and her Master's degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Forensic and Legal Psychology from Marymount University (2024). Her unique blend of mental health and legal experience has equipped Katie with the expertise to support individuals navigating some of life’s most challenging moments. She has worked with adolescents, teens, and adults addressing a range of issues including anxiety, depression, self-harm, mood disorders, trauma, life stressors, OCD, ADHD, and more. Katie’s experience spans schools, hospitals, jails, and the justice system, collaborating with treatment teams to provide comprehensive care. She utilizes evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help individuals achieve their goals and feel confident again.
Katie's training includes working in high-trauma and high-stakes environments. Her background includes working with perpetrators of domestic violence, convicted sex offenders, federal law enforcement, and victims of sexual abuse. This experience has deepened her appreciation for first responders and the unique challenges they face. Katie is inspired by their dedication and bravery and recognizes that they are often a neglected population, with their needs and struggles sometimes overlooked by society. Motivated by the desire to support and enhance their well-being, Katie is committed to ensuring they have the resources, recognition, and support necessary for long-lasting lives and successful careers.
