Clinician

Jake is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate and a Nationally Certified Counselor. He received his Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He employs a person-centered, relationship-based counseling approach, integrating Motivational Interviewing and experiential counseling techniques. His practice includes trauma-informed and mindfulness-based interventions, fostering authentic and nurturing conversations.

A Veteran of the United States Air Force Reserve, Jake served as an Aeromedical Evacuation Technician, providing medical care to injured servicemen and servicewomen while in flight.. Following his military service, he worked as an EMT in the Birmingham, Alabama area. Later, at his alma mater, Jake delved into clinical research, managing trials and investigating disorders ranging from psychosis to pediatric epilepsy, which enriched his counseling practice with a deeper understanding of mental health.

When not helping clients, Jake can be found enjoying the company of his wife and friends while mountain biking, climbing, or camping. His profound love for the Appalachian Mountains drives him to share this awe-inspiring place with others, aligning with his belief in the therapeutic benefits of nature and outdoor activities.
